Funkeefish is a small, independant studio and label with new premises in the village of Stoke Gabriel, near Totnes, Devon, UK.

1/ Who are 'Funkeefish Studios'?

I "(Katie Marie)" started Funkee Fish Records/studios with my friend Luigi Langella who is a guitarist.

2/ Why did 'FunkeeFish' come about?

We wanted to provide local musicians and artists with quality studio facilites at reasonable rates.

3/ You are setting up in new premises. Can you tell us about the move?

Yes, we're moving to bigger and better premises! We'll soon be based on the outskirts of Totnes, over looking beautiful countryside. We'll have a seperate live & recording room, and hopefully be able to provide rehearsal space as well.

4/ What services can 'FunkeeFish' offer?

Apart from the studio, we also offer design & printing, CD duplication & mastering. Our studio is also available for hire for school day trips and we make and produce our own backing tracks at amazing prices.

5/ You also have the 'FunkeeFish' Label. Tell us a little about that?

Luigi and myself descided to start Funkee Fish Records as we were both fed up of sending our demos off to various labels, only to get told they'd be interested if we could write more 'radio friendly' music. So we thought we'd do it ourselves! We also wanted to invlove some of the massive local talent that is out there, and let all the majors know that there's plenty of amazing artists and bands right here in Devon.

Our aim is to provide talented bands and songwriters with a chance to write, record and perform their music without the fear of being turned into a money making product. We can offer talented musicians CD distribution through our own on and offline network, free studio access, promotion, and gigs. We're trying to stick to the acoustic, folk, jazz, singer/songwriter and fusion styles but will listen to anything if it's emotive.

6/ Do you have any artists signed to 'FunkeeFish'?

We wanted to wait and get ourselves established before signing any artists - but we are due to sign 16 year old Francesca Hayden from Lyme Regis next month, she came to us on 2 weeks work expreience and we were so impressed with her creative writing we offered her a recording contract with us! So watch this space....

7/ If you had the chance to record any 1 artist in the world, who would it be?

That's a tricky one - so many! I think I'd have to say my personal choice would be Ani Difranco, as she is so soulful and creative with her recordings and I think I'd have plenty to learn from her.

8/ Are you actively seeking artists for the label? If so, What genre?

We're trying to stick to the acoustic, folk, jazz, singer/songwriter and fusion styles but will listen to anything if it's emotive. Every CD that is posted to us gets a listen and we try and reply to everyone with our thoughts.

9/ If an artist needed any session musicians, could you supply them?

Yes we can! Funkee Fish can offer you experienced in house session musicians to help with your recording.

10/ What would be your ultimate goal with the label?

To have a great distibution network going, to be working with some great talent and to get a tour together - that would be good fun :)

11/ Can you give us a list of your gear?
